The Fort Bliss Indoor Aquatic Center project at U.S. Army Post Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX was completed in January 2013. This Army Corps of Engineers project features a 50,000 sq. ft. facility with three new pools.
There is a 10,091 sq. ft., 50-meter competition pool with a bulkhead, which allows the pool to be divided into different course lengths. The facility also features a 1,152 sq. ft. deep water training tank with two 1-meter diving boards and a 3-meter dive stand. The tank is 13 ft. deep and can be used for drown-proofing, combat water survival training and other military training exercises. There is also a 3,094 sq. ft. multi-purpose pool with a permanent 12 ft. climbing wall. The pool can be heated to 92 degrees and used for physical therapy. It includes zero-depth entry which provides easy access to disabled and wounded soldiers.
